The competition fee is $50, which includes required individual membership (NOTE: if you are already a member, please see adjusted amounts below). Payment is either by cheque (made out to the Alberta String Association, and forwarded to 203, 10221-111th Street Edmonton AB, T5K 2W5) or via Paypal (see links at the bottom of this page).
This competition is a performance opportunity open to all young, pre-professional Albertan string players.
This year, candidates are asked to:
- send a website link of an unedited video performance (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) of the movement that is intended to be performed with orchestra (assumed timing of more than 10 minutes; otherwise a few movements of the same work with orchestra). The recorded performance is to be with piano accompaniment.
- previous winners are not eligible to compete.
All video recordings should be received by January 25, 2019.
The Young Artists Concerto Concert will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 @ 7PM (College Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lancombe, AB) with the Burman University Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Eduardo Sola.
Following this event, the Alberta String Association will arrange a Gala Concert to feature some of the performers whose performances were highly ranked in the competition (TBA).
